Stress, poor sleep and weight gain

Geelong has experienced a few lockdowns in the last 18 months. Many of us have been working or studying at home; and some have gained weight during those lockdowns. At the same time, a large number of us experience stress... Read more

Herbs and cups, the everyday tools of the clinic. Behind them sits a system refined over centuries.

Next week we’re pulling back the curtain on the consult itself: the questions we ask and the reasoning behind each one.

What actually happens at your first visit?
We know walking into a new clinic can feel uncertain. Here’s what to expect.
We start by listening. Your full history, not just today’s symptoms. We want the whole picture before we treat anything.
Pulse and tongue diagnosis come next. These tell us things a symptom list can’t. Together they point us toward a pattern, not just a label.
You leave with a plan. Clear next steps, a timeframe, and a sense of what we’re working toward.
Most people tell us they feel calmer before the needles even go in. That’s the point. Treatment starts the moment you feel heard.

When the body feels cold, heavy, or stuck — the heat of moxabustion penetrates deeply to restore circulation. This ancient technique uses the specific infrared frequency of burning mugwort to move stuckness and reignite your body’s own healing fire. Relight. Recharge. Reconnect.

That gap between who you know yourself to be and who you can manage to be right now.
Chinese medicine has a clear view of what’s driving it 🗺️and a practical sequence for working through it.

That spot on the tendon that just won’t warm up.
You stretch it, you rest it, you apply heat — and it feels better for a while. But the cold keeps coming back. In Chinese medicine, that’s not just a circulation problem. Cold can lodge in a joint or tendon and sit there, resisting the usual remedies.
Moxibustion is one of the ways we address it. Dried mugwort, burned close to the point, delivering a warmth that penetrates differently to a heat pack or hot shower. Deeper, like a pin-point infrared sauna, in a way that tends to linger.
It’s the same principle we use for whole-body cold: Yang as the body’s pilot light 🔥 When it’s low, or when cold gets in somewhere it shouldn’t, moxa is one of the most direct ways to rekindle it.
It smells a little like a campfire 🌿 Patients either love it immediately or take a session to appreciate it.
If you’ve got something that aches in the cold, or just won’t fully recover, this might be worth a chat.
